This role has full authority to enforce maintenance strategies, approve budgets within limits, and make critical decisions to safeguard production continuity, facilities readiness, and compliance with corporate and legal requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Lead all maintenance and facility operations with full authority to define, approve, and enforce maintenance strategies across the plant.Oversee reliability and availability of molding machines, assembly lines, test equipment, and supporting utilities.Direct corrective, preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance programs.Ensure quick and effective response to breakdowns, minimizing impact on production.Guarantee facility infrastructure readiness (buildings, HVAC, electricity, compressed air, water, fire systems, security systems).
Approve shutdown planning, line restarts, and preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with Production.Represent Maintenance & Facilities in daily production meetings and escalate issues to senior management when plant availability is at risk.MAINTENANCE STRATEGY (PREVENTIVE, PREDICTIVE, CORRECTIVE)Develop and enforce a preventive maintenance master plan for molding machines, assembly lines, and critical plant systems.Implement predictive maintenance using condition monitoring tools (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, sensors).
Manage corrective maintenance ensuring fast MTTR and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.Coordinate autonomous maintenance activities with Production, training operators to perform daily checks and minor tasks.Document and monitor all maintenance activities through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
FOCUS ON PROCESSESDefine, implement, and maintain standardized maintenance and facility management processes.Establish SOPs, work instructions, and escalation protocols for all activities.Align maintenance schedules with production planning to minimize downtime.Drive continuous improvement in maintenance (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
Guarantee process discipline through audits, KPIs, and team accountability.Ensure proper documentation and traceability to support audits and compliance.PLANNING AND ANALYSIS OF RISKSIdentify risks related to equipment, facilities, and utilities that could impact production or safety.Maintain contingency plans for power outages, compressed air system failures, and HVAC breakdowns.Perform FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) on critical assets.Collaborate with HSE to mitigate environmental and occupational risks.Regularly review and update risk assessments to address new technologies or operational changes.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENTLead and develop a team of supervisors, technicians, and facility staff across all shifts.Assign roles, responsibilities, and priorities effectively.Provide technical training, safety coaching, and professional development opportunities.Build a culture of accountability, discipline, and teamwork.Ensure adequate resource allocation and shift coverage.KPIS & PERFORMANCE METRICSMTTR (Mean Time to Repair).

% Compliance with preventive and predictive maintenance plans.Downtime per machine, line, and utility.Facility uptime, energy efficiency, and cost savings achieved.FINANCIAL & VENDOR MANAGEMENTManage maintenance and facility budgets effectively.Control spare parts inventory, ensuring availability without overstocking.Negotiate contracts and oversee performance of external contractors and service providers.Monitor and deliver cost reduction initiatives related to energy, materials, and maintenance operations.CSR & SUSTAINABILITYDrive energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource optimization projects.Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance for utilities and facilities.Support ISO, IATF, VDA, OSHA, and customer audit requirements.Promote sustainable practices within the team and across the organization.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
Master's degree preferred.Experience : Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, or engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a managerial position within the automotive or manufacturing industry.Technical Knowledge : Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, assembly lines, and manufacturing equipment.Expertise in preventive, predictive, corrective, and autonomous maintenance strategies.Knowledge of utilities and facilities systems (electricity, HVAC, compressed air, water, fire protection).
Familiarity with ISO, IATF 16949, VDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.Leadership : Proven ability to lead, train, and develop multidisciplinary teams.Skills : Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.Budget management and cost reduction initiatives.Project management and vendor negotiation skills.Effective communication in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
Other : Availability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as required.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSExperience managing plant infrastructure projects, including building expansions, remodeling, and utility system upgrades.Hands-on experience with HVAC, compressed air, water treatment, and electrical distribution systems.Proven track record in managing critical utilities to support continuous manufacturing operations.Strong background in energy efficiency initiatives and cost reduction projects within facilities.Experience overseeing facility services such as security, janitorial, landscaping, cafeteria, and pest control.Familiarity with fire protection systems, safety systems, and building code compliance.Vendor management expertise for large-scale facility contracts and service providers.Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and automation for utilities and energy monitoring.Involvement in sustainability projects, including waste reduction and resource optimization.Demonstrated ability to ensure business continuity during facility outages or emergencies.LANGUAGE SKILLSBilingual (English / Spanish)Gentherm is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
