About the Role
Seso is expanding its Payroll team and looking for a Payroll Ops Lead to oversee payroll processing operations and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. As a Payroll OpsLead, you will be responsible for managing a team of payroll clerks, overseeing end-to-end payroll processing, and improving payroll workflows. You will play a critical role in ensuring thousands of workers are paid accurately and on time each week.
This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Clerk Lead will work out of our Monterrey, Mexico office and report to the Head of Payroll Ops .
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Payroll Clerks, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, including intake of time cards, payroll statement generation, and system uploads.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.
- Review and validate payroll data to minimize errors and discrepancies before processing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Maintain payroll records, update employee data (e.g., job title changes, exemptions, deductions), and generate payroll reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Payroll Product and GTM teams, on payroll-related projects.
Skillset & Qualifications
2+ years of payroll processing experience , with at least 1 year in a leadership or senior payroll roleStrong understanding of payroll regulations, tax deductions, and compliance requirementsExcellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize tasks effectivelyStrong written and verbal English communication skillsHigh degree of technical literacy, with expertise in spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets)Experience working with payroll software and systemsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies efficientlyAbility to lead and mentor a team while maintaining a hands-on approach to payroll processingBenefits
