Job Overview : We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our financial department and contribute to our life-saving mission. This role is essential in ensuring the financial stability and compliance of our organization, which directly impacts the accessibility and freedom we provide to senior citizens. The ideal candidate will have a strong bookkeeping background and the skills necessary to assist the Financial Director in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting various financial processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Record Keeping :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals and financial statements.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and summarized in QuickBooks.
- Organize and store financial records, including invoices, receipts, and other documents, ensuring CRA audit readiness.
Accounts Payable & Receivable :
Enter invoices for bills into QuickBooks accurately.Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable, following up on outstanding payments and resolving discrepancies.Manage and submit financial payment receipts and invoices for monthly reimbursement, coordinating approvals and ensuring compliance with funding policies.Bank Reconciliations & Financial Reporting :
Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between company records and bank statements.Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified during reconciliations.Prepare and generate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting by providing relevant financial data and analysis.Compliance & Audits :
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.Administrative Support :
Assist the Director of Finance with financial tasks and projects as needed.Provide administrative and clerical support to the finance department, including data entry and report generation.Oversee the funding process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions, and track any missing entries.Qualifications :
Ideal candidate must have working experience with Canadian companies and must be familiar with GST / HST tax handling.
Education & Experience :
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.Extensive knowledge and proficiency in QuickBooks.Experience working with formulas in Google Sheets and Excel.Skills & Competencies :
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Familiarity with billing processes, insurance claims and coding standards is beneficial.Compensation & Work Expectations :
