Job Description Summary
The Control Systems Lead Engineer is responsible for developing and managing engineering solutions for product control and control system technology needs. This includes applying control theory and mathematical modeling to design systems that exhibit desired behaviors.
The role requires advanced experience in controls engineering, effective communication skills in both English and Spanish, the ability to work independently, and a strong capacity to contribute to the immediate team as well as other teams across the business. Additionally, the candidate must be able to manage projects and lead small teams with specific scopes and deadlines.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to designing and testing aircraft engine control software, translating requirements into actionable engineering tasks. ensuring the safe and efficient performance of GE Aviation’s commercial engines.
The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills. Knowledge of diagnostics for commercial aviation engines is highly desirable
In this role, you will :
- Design and develop application software for the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine ever built.
- Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce, and manage engineering solutions for product control and control system technology needs.
- Apply control theory and mathematical modeling to design and control systems with desired behaviors.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline.
- Participate in technical forums to share information across programs and disciplines.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
- A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent.
- Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
Required Qualifications
This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering / Technology & Controls Engineering.Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.Knowledge on SW development process.Experience with SW development tools.Strong knowledge to work with signal processing from transducers, sensors, LVDTs, etc.Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position, demonstrate Controls software design mindset focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.English skills : Must be able to maintain a technical conversation in English with a multidisciplinary forum.Presentation Skills : Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership, demonstrate experience on technical boards presentations.Demonstrated ability in managing described projects across functions.Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments.Demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership experience on the daily work impact with solid business cases.Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives meeting business results.Ability to influence others and to lead small teams with solid projects to reach team results and / or KPIs.Effective problem identification and solution skills, lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact with problem solving tools.Proven analytical and organizational abilities.Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the teamDesired Characteristics
Knowledge of commercial aviation engine diagnostics, including fault determination, annunciation, and storage, as well as ground testing and engine vibration analysis.
Experience in identifying root causes and failure modes from a Controls Systems perspective, isolating faults, assessing their impact on other engine systems, and analyzing engine system responses.
