Powder Coating Engineer

Location : Onsite – Juárez, Nuevo León, México
Opportunity
The Organics Engineer will have technical responsibility for implementing and improving the manufacturing processes for the Organics area at the Sanimex Faucet Operation (SFO) for new SKUs, current production or equipment introductions. To be successful in this role, the candidate should demonstrate an interest in developing efficient and cost-effective processes with safety, quality, and productivity as priorities.
Responsibilities
- Direct the flow of material and operation of all equipment associated with the Organics process.
- Detect and diagnose equipment and process problems in the Organics process; understand both previous and subsequent operations.
- Direct major capital projects and equipment purchases for capacity and strategic purposes for the Organics process at SFO.
- Support corporate activities regarding the international growth of Global Faucets Operations.
- Develop detailed process specifications and routings for manufacturing.
- Develop, document, and train necessary new / current processes for the Organics process (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plan, Flow Chart, PAPE, and training).
- Initiate investigations and testing of new processes or process changes to improve costs, quality, and productivity.
- Assist with providing cost estimates for new projects.
- Work with the Kohler supplier network within or outside the USA.
- Responsible for current production performance and launching new products, including lessons learned documented in meetings with the SFO plant (e.g., technical assessments of potential problems and the design of tooling).
- Lead the general timeline of the Organics process from project start to operating certificate approval for new components.
Skills / Requirements
Education and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree (ABET). Relevant fields : Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy or related.Minimum of 5 years in powder and lacquer painting related operation experience.Preferred : bilingual (English & Spanish).Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.Advanced engineering degree with coursework in Powder and lacquer paint.Experience in a manufacturing or related technical environment, preferably in a vertically integrated environment.Proven experience in developing and driving changes and continuous improvement systems; proven ability to influence and implement changes.PPAP experience preferred.CAD experience preferred.SAP basic functions preferred.Why Kohler?
