Powder Coating Engineer

Work Mode : Onsite

Location : Onsite – Juárez, Nuevo León, México

Overview

The Organics Engineer will have technical responsibility for implementing and improving the manufacturing processes for the Organics area at the Sanimex Faucet Operation (SFO) for new SKU’s, current production or equipment introductions. To be successful in this role, the candidate should be committed to creating an efficient and cost-effective process, prioritizing safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the flow of material and operation of all equipment associated with the Organics process.
  • Detect and diagnose equipment and process problems associated with the Organics process. A basic understanding of previous operations and subsequent operations is necessary.
  • Direct major capital projects and equipment purchases for capacity and strategic purposes for Organics process at SFO.
  • Support corporate activities regarding the international growth of Global Faucets Operations.
  • Develop detailed process specifications and routings for manufacturing.
  • Develop, document and train all necessary new / current processes associated with the Organics process (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plan, Flow Chart, PAPE and training).
  • Initiate investigation and testing of new processes or process changes to improve costs, quality, and productivity.
  • Assist with providing cost estimates for new projects.
  • Work with the Kohler supplier network within or outside the USA.
  • Be responsible for current production performance and launching new products, including lessons learned documented in meetings with the SFO plant, such as technical assessments of potential problems and the design of tooling.
  • Lead the general timeline of the Organics process from the start of the project until operations certification approval for new components.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Education : Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree (ABET). Relevant fields include Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or related.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years in powder and lacquer painting related operation experience.
  • Additional : Bilingual ability (English & Spanish) preferred; Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) essential; advanced engineering degree with coursework in Powder and lacquer paint; experience in manufacturing or related technical environment, preferably in a vertically integrated environment.
  • Proven experience in developing and driving changes and continuous improvement systems, and in influencing and implementing these improvements.
  • PPAP experience and CAD experience preferred; SAP basic functions preferred.
