Overview
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Site Leader – Koch Engineered Solutions. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated EHS Site Leader to support the safe launch and ongoing operations of our new facility in Apodaca, Mexico. This is a pivotal, high-impact role responsible for building and leading site-level EHS programs from the ground up.
The ideal candidate is a natural leader who demonstrates the courage to respectfully challenge senior leadership and consistently advocates for a systematic, disciplined approach to risk management.
What You Will Do
- Identify, reduce, and control occupational health and safety risks across all phases : construction, commissioning, contractor management, equipment installation, and operational readiness.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and employee engagement through coaching, communication, and recognition programs.
- Ensure compliance with local, federal, and corporate EHS requirements by leading site permitting, audits, and inspections in coordination with authorities such as STPS, SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, and Protección Civil.
- Maintain alignment with ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards by developing, implementing, and sustaining site-specific EHS programs and training.
- Deliver engaging EHS training for employees and contractors, meeting regulatory requirements (e.g., STPS registered instructor).
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with site leadership, contractors, and global teams to integrate EHS controls into site design and processes.
- Act as the primary EHS point of contact for the site and partner with site leadership to identify opportunities where EHS initiatives can drive operational excellence, cost savings, and sustainable business value.
Basic Qualifications
Coaching and developing others and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.Proven experience leading EHS efforts during new facility launches, including construction safety, permitting, and contractor oversight.Strong knowledge of Mexican EHS laws and regulations (STPS, Industria Limpia, SEMARNAT, SEMADET, STPS, CONAGUA, Protección Civil, etc.).Demonstrated experience in receiving and planning audits in both Spanish and English, and engaging with customers, external parties, and regulatory agencies.Strategic thinker with a hands-on, proactive approach.Skilled in change management and EHS culture transformation.Experience using reporting systems such as : SIAAT, SIRCE, DECLARALAB, PASST, etc.Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.Valid VISA and Passport.What Will Put You Ahead
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering or a related field.Additional Environmental, Health, and Safety certifications or equivalent education.ISO14001 : 2015 and ISO45001 : 2018 training, and / or certification as an internal auditor for these management systems (Training will be provided).Demonstrable progressive EHS leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or construction / start-up environments.Availability to travel.At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
