About the job
Goods & Services is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is located in or willing to relocate to Merida, to design and optimize precision assemblies for medical diagnostics instruments, improving performance, reliability, and addressing component obsolescence. The role requires troubleshooting and innovation.
What you’ll do (Additional Aspects)
- Leading Mechanical Engineering activities and deliverables as a project manager or as a member of a project team.
- Scoping, planning, and implementing small to medium sized projects.
- Identifying cost saving project opportunities.
- Prototyping and test design to ensure robustness and manufacturability.
- Making design decisions and presenting them logically to get buy-in from key stakeholders, management, and team members.
- Communicating effectively technical concepts / issues, project status, risks, and mitigations to the executive leadership team.
- Working cross-functionally within and outside of Operations to complete business-critical projects.
- Conducting root cause investigation of product and component failures.
- Performing electro-mechanical testing of components and sub-systems.
- Working on CAPA, EOL component selection and cost reduction activities.
- Testing, collecting, and analyzing data, preparing reports, and presenting results to cross functional teams.
- Developing models of opto-mechanical assemblies over a range of conditions and modeling performance across interconnected subsystems.
What you’ll need (Requirements)
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.5+ years experience in Fluidic Assembly Design.Experience designing electro-mechanical sub-assemblies using Solidworks, CREO or equivalent 3D CAD systems.Experience in kinematic principles, modern opto-mechanical design, and fabrication.Experience taking a concept from feasibility prototype to production.Experience characterizing solutions for mechanical stability, repeatability, and reliability through structure testing.Experience with DFSS and / or DOE methodologies.Experience with Engineering Change Management procedures such as ECOS’s, engineering change impact assessments, and regression testing analysis.Solid lab skills, with ability to perform and document detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Nice to have
Previous experience with biomedical devices.Experience in micro-fluidics assemblies.Seniority level
