Job Summary : The Materials Planner is responsible for managing the flow of materials within the supply chain to ensure timely and efficient production. This role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating the procurement and inventory of raw materials, components, and finished goods to meet production and customer demand while minimizing excess inventory and cost.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain material requirements plans based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and historical usage.
Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing plans accordingly to maintain optimal stock levels.
Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Coordinate with suppliers to track orders, resolve supply issues, and ensure lead time and delivery commitments are met.
Analyze demand trends, safety stock levels, and reorder points to improve planning accuracy.
Create and manage purchase orders and maintain accurate records in the ERP / MRP system.
Communicate material shortages or delays to relevant stakeholders and recommend corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning processes and supply chain efficiency.
Participate in new product introductions and engineering change processes to ensure materials availability.
Generate regular reports on inventory status, material usage, and supplier performance.
Qualifications : Education :
~ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience :
~5 years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or inventory management (industry-specific experience preferred).
Skills & Competencies :
Strong understanding of supply chain processes and MRP / ERP systems ( PLEX)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Just-In-Time (JIT) practices is a plus.
APICS certification (e.g., CPIM) is a plus.
