Senior Backend Engineer

OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineering Lead (Finance / FinTech) to work closely with our CTO in architecting and optimizing the backend infrastructure of our trading platform.

This is a pivotal role with immediate ownership of financial data processing systems, broker integrations, and real-time market analysis infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate directly with the CTO on architectural decisions and technical strategy for the trading platform.Take full ownership of backend architecture, making independent technology choices to optimize infrastructure.Architect scalable data pipelines for processing multi-asset market data with sub-second response times.Optimize systems to handle over 150 trading strategies with real-time backtesting and execution.Design systems for correlation analysis of complex multi-asset relationships.Integrate with major broker APIs like Alpaca, Interactive Brokers, and Tradier for live trading execution.Build normalized trading interfaces for stocks, crypto, forex, and options.Implement robust error handling and transaction integrity for trading operations.Transform monolithic components into a scalable microservices architecture.Design event-driven systems for real-time market sentiment analysis and AI model execution.Optimize multi-database architecture (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis) for financial workloads.Implement audit trails and compliance logging to meet fintech regulatory requirements.Develop monitoring and alerting systems aligned with financial-grade service level agreements.Ensure secure data handling and processing for sensitive financial information.Required Skills8+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3 years in fintech or financial services.Hands-on experience with financial market data integration, using APIs such as TwelveData, Polygon.io, FactSet, etc.Proficiency in real-time data processing, including WebSockets and streaming architectures.Practical experience with broker API integration and financial data normalization.Expertise in AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB optimization for financial workloads.Strong skills in backend languages such as Node.js / TypeScript and Python.Experience with multi-database architecture and financial data modeling.Proficient in real-time technologies like WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, and Redis.Skilled in designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs optimized for trading platforms.Nice to HaveExperience in trading platform or broker integration architecture.Knowledge of financial compliance, including FINRA and SEC requirements.Experience with high-frequency data processing and optimization.Familiarity with mobile API optimization for React Native trading applications.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeContractJob functionInformation TechnologyIndustriesStaffing and Recruiting
