Role purpose The objective of the Siemens EA Electrical Design Team Lead is to guide and coordinate a group of Electrical designers in developing new project-specific designs, supporting the SI EA business goals of delivery reliability, quality, and productivity. The responsibilities are outlined below.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the design schedules by assisting with planning and prioritization of new tasks and projects during engineering stages, considering the team’s workload and skillsets.Support timely completion of new projects to meet project-specific requirements and ensure alignment with engineering release schedules.Assist in identifying and addressing design defects in new project work, supporting quality and continuous improvement initiatives.Participate in product maintenance initiatives, collaborating with team members to correct known issues and minimize nonconformance costs due to design errors.Support cross-functional teams (such as R&D, Technical Product Managers, and Engineering Liaison) by facilitating clear communication and sharing design expertise.Promote and contribute to process improvement efforts related to design and release of Electrical Designer deliverables.Perform quality checks on electrical designs and participate in initiatives to increase First Pass Yield (FPY).Assist in resolving product issues reported from the factory or field, and participate in developing solutions to prevent recurrence.Provide technical leadership on a day-to-day basis for an Electrical Design team, assuring that results deliver quality and value for our customers.On-time completion and delivery of engineering releases.Reduction in nonconformities (NCCs) due to design errors.Productivity and efficiency improvements.Qualifications and Requirements
Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating a team of Electrical Engineers and designers (preferably in the medium voltage power distribution industry).Hands-on experience with power distribution switchgear and systems.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switchgear.Working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products.Ability to analyze customer technical specifications and apply appropriate product solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.Strong ability to multitask and organize a team’s workload to meet project and business objectives.Excellent written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.Positive work ethic with a team-centered approach and willingness to meet deadlines as needed.Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.Intermediate English.Availability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.Equal Employment Opportunity Siemens is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
