Key Responsibilities
This role involves providing technical support and process validation to various functions within the organization.
As a specialist in materials, you will provide guidance on engineering projects based on your knowledge, including new component manufacture and repair operations.
- Provide input into material selection, special processes, and suppliers.
- Review and approve component definitions, design alteration requests, and non-conformance reports.
- Approve methods of manufacture and related documentation to ensure finished components meet design intent.
- Assist with root cause investigation activities.
- Evaluate material suitability for specific applications.
- Propose alternative specifications for progressive industrialization of products.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or a closely related field.5+ years' experience in a gas turbine materials function.Experience in special processes such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, and coatings.Preferred experience in gas turbine materials and special process application.Experience in material melting practices, casting, and forging is a plus.Ability to work with critical rotating parts (discs / drums) and approving suppliers for forging and special processes.Knowledge of material testing and data to support lifting methodologies.
