About the Role
Grade Level (for internal use) : 09. The Multi-Asset Index Management team manages a diverse range of high‑profile indices across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, commodities, and derivatives.
Responsibilities and Impact
The Index Manager is responsible for overseeing a wide array of indices. The Index Manager is tasked with preparing and delivering presentations to Index Committees. This requires an understanding of index performance, methodologies, and prevailing market trends. In addition to their primary responsibilities, the Index Manager serves as a backup for other managers within the department. This role necessitates a thorough knowledge of the entire product line to ensure seamless support and continuity of operations. The Index Manager will become a subject matter expert and a back‑up for the team leader. In addition, the Index Manager will be required to :
- Prepare and calculate S&P and Dow Jones branded indices, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of real‑time and end‑of‑day index data to clients and end users.
- Perform analytical research to determine the composition of assigned indices, interpreting complex index methodologies and adjusting data in our calculation systems, and adjusting the data to conform to the rules of the index.
- Perform index rebalances by interpreting index methodology, running models and research for adds / drops, implementing changes and communicating these appropriately to clients, all with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Serve on the index committees and make presentations of original, non‑routine analysis to committee in support of the indices for which the index manager is responsible.
- Take responsibility for the management of high‑profile indices, acting as an industry expert and displaying in‑depth knowledge of our product lines.
- Manage and maintain key relationships with other groups within the department and across other departments, particularly Product Management, Client Coverage, Index Services and IT Support.
- Work in close coordination with the technology group and production support group to further enhance our system capabilities.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. The projects involve requirements gathering, analytical thinking, compilation of data, and documentation.
- Must demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms.
- Must have the ability to train new and current employees on best‑practices for index management.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree1–3 Years of relevant experienceUnderstanding of global financial marketsStrong programming skills and experience preferably in Python or a similar language such as VBA or RMust be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision.Must have experience working with fairly large date sets using Excel or SQLMust be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non‑routine problems in a timely and insightful mannerSuperior computer skills in Excel, Word and related applicationsPreferred Qualifications
