The Multi‑Asset Index Management team manages a diverse range of high‑profile indices across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, commodities, and derivatives.
Responsibilities & Impact :
The Index Manager is responsible for overseeing a wide array of indices. The Index Manager prepares and delivers presentations to Index Committees, requiring a strong understanding of index performance, methodologies, and prevailing market trends. In addition, the Index Manager serves as a backup for other managers within the department, ensuring seamless support and continuity of operations.
- Prepare and calculate S&P and Dow Jones branded indices, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of real‑time and end‑of‑day index data to clients and end users.
- Perform analytical research to determine the composition of assigned indices, interpreting complex index methodologies and adjusting data in our calculation systems to conform to index rules.
- Perform index rebalances by interpreting index methodology, running models and research for adds / drops, implementing changes, and communicating these to clients with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Serve on index committees and present original, non‑routine analysis to support the indices.
- Manage and maintain key relationships within the department and across other departments, including Product Management, Client Coverage, Index Services and IT Support.
- Coordinate closely with the technology and production support groups to enhance system capabilities.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines, including requirements gathering, analytical thinking, data compilation and documentation.
- Adapt quickly to new technologies and platforms.
- Train new and current employees on best‑practices for index management.
What We’re Looking For :
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree1‑3 years of relevant experienceUnderstanding of global financial marketsStrong programming skills; proficiency in Python or a similar language such as VBA or RAbility to work independently on multiple projects with minimal directionExperience working with large data sets using Excel or SQLExcellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non‑routine problems in a timely and insightful mannerSuperior computer skills in Excel, Word and related applicationsPreferred Qualifications :
Advanced degree in business, math, economics, or finance preferredAbility to assume responsibility, work with others and manage projectsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with futures and / or optionsStrong understanding of index construction and methodologyAbility to learn S&P’s proprietary index calculation enginesKnowledge of vendor terminals and analytics platformsBenefits :
