Summary :
The Applications Engineer’s mission is to support the efforts of Makino sales and service organizations. The Applications Engineer (AE) must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process to target companies in their region, resulting in target market penetration and high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities :
- Design, develop and validate engineering processes on equipment for turnkey / sharekey requirements.
- Visit customers in need of AE assistance as directed by manager.
- Work with Makino and complementary OEM product line applications, service, and sales team to identify all current applications engineering needs.
- Perform post sale startup support for customer in area of part processing, programming, process setup, optimization and operator training.
- Coordinate and / or perform training on-site and other Makino facilities.
- Establish and / or continue high level applications image in the markets served by Makino.
- Work in conjunction with local field service engineers on customer machine issues.
- Ability to manipulate Programming software and modeling software.
- Evaluate and provide experience-based recommendations for improvements of customer specific part processing requirements.
- Utilize experience and proficiency with CAD / CAM software (such as Mastercam, Solidworks and / or Delcam) to generate efficient process specific to NC Programming.
- Utilize experience and technical understanding of best practice solutions available with industry specific range of tooling and work holding options to meet or exceed customer’s requirements.
- Support sales engineers with pre-sale technical requirements including manufacturing process evaluations, product selection recommendations, time estimates, test cuts and technical discussions.
- Support proposal requirements and showroom related activities.
- Maintain showroom machines in demonstration in optimal conditions.
- Assist Customer Support in the installation / de-installation process as required.
- Other duties as assigned to support the productive execution of the business.
