This role is for an experienced professional who will be responsible for processing and reviewing client credit applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management, industry standards, and corporate operations practices.

The Credit Underwriter will be responsible for making recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and compliance with company policies and procedures. They will effectively interact with merchants, sales representatives, senior underwriters, and management to achieve timely adjudication of applications and limit loss, assess risk, and protect the company against fraud and other risks.

Key Responsibilities :

- Risk Calculation Approval Limit is in accordance with the Credit Policy.
">
Understand the risks associated with the payment processing industry (Fraud, Credit, Regulatory, Legal, etc.)">
Verify all information provided on the merchant application and supporting documentation is correct and consistent with required standards.">
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in all underwriting processes and policies, and be able to communicate that knowledge verbally and in writing to other staff.">
Work closely with Sales Management to resolve questions and pending deal resolution.">
Independently underwrite all new applications within Senior Underwriter approval authority consistent with underwriting policies and guidelines.">
Applies in-depth and advanced credit knowledge and judgment with a solid understanding of industry standards and corporate operations practices to complete more complex credit decisions.">
Performs advanced analysis of credit reports, financials, tax returns, and other similar documentation.">
Seeks alternative means of financing or counter offers for all merchant / clients when it is determined that the original request cannot be accommodated.">
When risk exceeds the Senior Underwriter approval authority provides write up and recommendations to management.">
Communicate decisions effectively in both verbal and written communication.">
Must work to evaluate and make recommendations to the Manager and Director, and where required Worldwide Corporate Credit review on accounts beyond individual approval authority.">
Properly file paperwork.">
Review files from other underwriting staff for accuracy.">
Mentor lower-level analysts.">
When requested consult with Management on procedural and policy changes, concerns, or clarifications.">
When requested assist Underwriting Management with training and development of underwriting personnel.">
Perform audits for Management.">
May serve on special project resource teams as assigned.">
Good understanding of niche markets and areas of expertise for the platform.">
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and team work skills, must have ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and maintain cordial and effective relationships with clients, coworkers, and other business contacts.">

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or combination of related degree and experience required.">
Typically minimum 4 years relevant experience in credit, risk, or equivalent experience">
In-depth credit operations knowledge, industry standards, corporate policy, and operational practices.">
Strong business and consumer credit and exposure analysis skills.">
Strong ability to read / review / analyze personal and business financial statements, interpret credit bureau reports, analyze trade experience, tax documents, and utilize external financial resources.">
Strong analytical and process skills.">
Strong communication (written and verbal), customer service, multi-tasking skills.">
Strong interpersonal and team work skills, and must have ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and maintain cordial and successful relationships with coworkers, and other business contacts.">
