Airswift is looking for a Permitting Specialist to work in a contractor position (12 months , with strong possibility of extension) in Mexico for a major offshore oil and gas project.
The Permitting Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring full regulatory compliance for the project by managing all necessary permits, licenses, applications, notifications, and consents. This position requires deep knowledge of Mexico’s oil and gas regulatory framework and strong coordination with internal teams and government agencies. The role supports project execution and operational integrity through strategic permitting oversight, stakeholder engagement, and proactive risk mitigation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide regulatory guidance to the project management team regarding permitting requirements.
- Identify and manage all permits, licenses, authorizations, and consents required for offshore oil and gas operations.
- Develop and maintain the PLANC register (Permits, Licenses, Applications, Notifications, and Consents).
- Coordinate permit acquisition timelines to align with project schedules.
- Track the full lifecycle of permitting processes, from preparation to submission and follow-up.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory obligations.
- Monitor and update permitting policies and procedures in response to regulatory changes.
- Build and maintain relationships with key regulatory bodies (CRE, SENER, ASEA, SEMARNAT, SEMAR, CONAGUA).
- Assess potential impacts of permitting on project timelines and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support and participate in audits, inspections, and site visits to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead implementation and reporting of corrective actions from audit findings.
- Capture lessons learned to improve future permitting processes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including :5 years in permitting roles.3 years in offshore operations.Strong understanding of Mexican regulatory frameworks for oil and gas.Proficient in English and Spanish (Spanish preferably native).TECHNICAL & NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS
