Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer to architect and build Skylight's internal tooling, collaborating with retail, customer support, and data teams, and maintaining key APIs and backend infrastructure. This role offers significant impact on the technical direction of the company with minimal bureaucracy and a strong customer focus.

Our technical stack is primarily Ruby on Rails, with some JavaScript and TypeScript Lambda functions. We currently run Rails 8.0 and Ruby 3.4, with a comprehensive test suite that runs in under two minutes.

Base pay range

$180,000.00 / yr - $210,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

• Architect and build internal tooling to support retail, customer support, and data teams
• Maintain key APIs and critical backend infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement features that scale
• Contribute to technical direction and maintain a high-quality codebase with an emphasis on reliability
