Responsibilities
- Conceptualize automated / semi-automated assembly processes for different types of products.
- Estimate investment costs in different scenarios based on location, manufacturing volume, customer requirements, including direct / indirect labor requirements.
- Create URS (User Requirements and Specifications) for automated assembly processes.
- Develop automation solutions concepts that meet Celestica’s universal and site-specific goals using 2D CAD tools. Apply lean concepts as part of the methodology.
- Analyze designs and systems for compliance with applicable standards (e.g., CE or customer-specific). Interface with customers, suppliers and internal teams to provide site-specific automation needs.
- Evaluate suppliers and assess capability and maturity for different processes.
- Manage suppliers on the deliverables through the design, development and deployment of automated solutions. Communicate progress on project tasks.
- Formalize and update drawing documentation. Support automation projects in all phases of the project life cycle.
- Collaborate with automation peers to deliver innovative automation solutions to customers.
- Be knowledgeable of automation market trends for different technologies.
Travel
Expect travel to vendor / supplier locations and other Celestica sites 10% of the time. However, may be exceeded in critical times throughout project life cycle.
Education
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Robotics / Mechatronics or similar. CAPM / PMP project management certification is a plus.Experience
Minimum 7 years in automation design at a machine integrator, or equivalent, designing and concepting machines from small table top to large complex integrated stations in assembly processes.Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly / electronics manufacturing is a plus.Knowledge of project management tools and techniques such as project and resource planning in MS Project and / or Smartsheet is an asset.MUST HAVE
Experience programming and troubleshooting industrial robots, PLCs and Vision Systems.Able to analyze and determine the automation requirement and drive deliverables to commitment through global network of vendors and internal resources.Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills at different levels of the company.Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures. Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.Experience with integrating 3rd party automation solutions as well as developing own solutions.Knowledge of automation systems and tools such as robotic, vision inspection, material handling, ASRS, conveyors, PLC, SCADA, screws / fasteners, HMI, Pick-Place-Pack, Inspection / Test.Experience in Automated Turn Key Solutions; Previously involved in Design, Manufacturing, Installation, Start-Up & Commissioning Stages of the Project.Knowledge of drafting principles using AutoCAD and / or SolidWorks (or similar).Able to work in a fast-changing dynamic environment.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.Project Management Experience; basic understanding of PMBOK.Knowledge of Financial Terms and Calculations (ROI, Payback, etc.).NICE TO HAVE
Experience with analytical software such as Minitab.Experience with robotic simulation systems.Knowledge of Layout, Tooling / Fixturing, Demand Flow, Cell Concept and Lean Manufacturing.Language
Other languages are a plus.
