Opening in early 2027, the Omni Pontoque Resort will be a luxury beachfront property with 244 guest rooms, 42 suites, and two private villas. It will feature three restaurants, a spa, multiple pools, a state‑of‑the‑art fitness center, and 27,000 square feet of event space.
Job Description
In early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts will debut its first owned and managed property in Mexico. This is a rare, career‑defining opportunity to serve as opening Director of Engineering, leading a flagship resort of exceptional scope and sophistication into the market.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all engineering personnel and for providing consistent, cost‑effective maintenance programs that ensure the property’s safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and operate R&M & utility expenses in an economic, legal, and safe manner.
- Manage R&M expenses, participate in month‑end financial processes and forecasting.
- Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program for public spaces, guestrooms, and equipment. All work requests and preventive maintenance are managed in Synergy.
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety, health, and legal requirements set by hotel policy.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering associates in coordination with the Director of Associate Services.
- Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for project execution. Manage special permits and licenses as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.
- Maintain own and resort’s special permits and licenses as required by local, state, and federal authorities.
- Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the engineering team. Maintain personnel records, utility logs, and engineering records.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
- Maintain clean uniform and professional appearance; protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; recommend, develop, and implement ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost savings.
- Schedule and facilitate monthly department meetings.
- Coach and counsel associates, complete performance evaluations.
- Attend all required company training.

Qualifications
4+ years’ experience as a hotel / resort Director of Engineering.Minimum 5 years’ hospitality engineering experience.Bilingual fluency in Spanish & English.Pre‑opening leadership experience strongly preferred.Experience in an oceanfront resort environment advantageous.Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to inspire teams and engage high‑profile guests with discretion and elegance.Unionized environment experience a plus.Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing preferred. CPO and EPA certifications required.Required to obtain missing certifications within 6 months of employment if not already possessed.Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, and all life safety systems relevant to hotel operations.Knowledgeable in safety use for power tools, general engineering tools, pool pumps and filtration systems.Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, water, sewer distribution, blueprints, fire codes and fire protection.Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills; effective teamwork and guest relations.Understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.Administrative function skills : timekeeping, vendor contracts, personnel action forms, following Omni standards.Relevant industry certifications and licenses required by local authorities.Ability to work flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.Physical Requirements
