Engineer I Mechanical Engineering IX

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineer supports new product development for the company’s Thermal global products. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design and / or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creates / modifies mechanical parts / assemblies / drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and / or Solid Edge.
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOMs based on options selected by the customer.
• Works with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
• Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
• Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
• Understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
• Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
• Coordinate performance testing in the lab.
• Analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
• Thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
• Determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.
