Job Description (Position Summary – main purpose)
Lead the strategy and operation of cross-border imports from Asia to Mexico via air freight, ensuring full regulatory compliance while optimizing costs and customs clearance times. This role requires strong strategic vision and international trade expertise to anticipate regulatory changes, design efficient import schemes, and support the company’s growth within the legal framework.
Key Responsibilities (main Objectives)
- Manage and optimize T1 and A1 import schemes, ensuring regulatory compliance and adapting to changes in customs and trade regulations.
- Oversee relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, couriers, and last mile.
- Plan and monitor air and ground customs clearance processes at key entry points.
- Track and report broker performance, developing action plans to resolve operational issues.
- Develop new channels and import schemes to reduce costs and clearance times while maintaining full compliance and scalability.
- Ensure smooth daily operations : review consignments, validate MAWB / HAWB accuracy, send pre-alerts, and coordinate in case of schedule changes or cancellations.
- Simplify and communicate complex trade regulations, customs laws, and policy changes to internal teams and HQ to support decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams (Legal, Finance, Government Relations, Public Relations, Tax, IT, Procurement) to implement new processes, integrations, and contracts.
- Manage sensitive goods (cosmetics, footwear, textiles, batteries, liquids, powders) by designing compliance action plans that guarantee operational continuity.
- Lead strategic negotiations with service providers, balancing cost, speed, and quality.
- Identify and assess opportunities under different import schemes (T1 vs. A1) and leverage Mexican trade benefits programs while ensuring full legal compliance.

Customs clearance SLAs :Cost per parcel : achieve ≤ $0.35 USD all-inclusive target.Regulatory compliance : 100% compliance, zero incidents.Tax prepayment accuracy per broker and avoidance of storage / demurrage fees.Reduction of detained or delayed cargo.Broker performance : clearance SLAs and competitive cost structure .Qualifications and Skills (Requirements - mandatory)
Education : Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, International Economic Relations, Logistics, or related field.Minimum 6 years in international trade and logistics.Proven experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders, couriers, and 3PL partners.Solid understanding of T1 simplified import scheme, NOM compliance, and Mexican trade regulations.Prior experience in retail or e-commerce imports with multi-category products.Technical Skills : Advanced Excel, Google Sheets, broker APIs, CAAREM or similar trade compliance tools.Languages : Fluent / advanced English for negotiation and multicultural communication.Core soft skills : Analytical thinking and problem solving; Strategic planning and long-term logistics flow design; Vendor negotiation and SLA-driven decision-making; Adaptability to regulatory changes and ability to react quickly under pressure; Cross-functional leadership and influence without formal authority; Clear, multicultural communication (simplifying technical topics for non-experts); Crisis management and resilience in high-pressure scenarios; Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large operational budgets.
