Customs Logistics Manager

Job Description (Position Summary – main purpose)

Lead the strategy and operation of cross-border imports from Asia to Mexico via air freight, ensuring full regulatory compliance while optimizing costs and customs clearance times. This role requires strong strategic vision and international trade expertise to anticipate regulatory changes, design efficient import schemes, and support the company’s growth within the legal framework.

Key Responsibilities (main Objectives)

• Manage and optimize T1 and A1 import schemes, ensuring regulatory compliance and adapting to changes in customs and trade regulations.
• Oversee relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, couriers, and last mile.
• Plan and monitor air and ground customs clearance processes at key entry points.
• Track and report broker performance, developing action plans to resolve operational issues.
• Develop new channels and import schemes to reduce costs and clearance times while maintaining full compliance and scalability.
• Ensure smooth daily operations : review consignments, validate MAWB / HAWB accuracy, send pre-alerts, and coordinate in case of schedule changes or cancellations.
• Simplify and communicate complex trade regulations, customs laws, and policy changes to internal teams and HQ to support decision-making.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with global teams (Legal, Finance, Government Relations, Public Relations, Tax, IT, Procurement) to implement new processes, integrations, and contracts.
• Manage sensitive goods (cosmetics, footwear, textiles, batteries, liquids, powders) by designing compliance action plans that guarantee operational continuity.
• Lead strategic negotiations with service providers, balancing cost, speed, and quality.
• Identify and assess opportunities under different import schemes (T1 vs. A1) and leverage Mexican trade benefits programs while ensuring full legal compliance.
