Overview
First Brands Group is hiring for a Packaging Manager for our engineering division for our office in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. This role, reporting to the Director of Packaging, will lead the end-to-end product development process, oversee market research, technical and functional development, regulatory compliance, and process launch. The role acts as a key technical support person to ensure the successful delivery of projects from concept through commercialization, covering packaging design & innovation, cost savings, brand maintenance and / or customer requests, business continuity plans, and packaging materials supplier quality support. The role will serve as a technical leader with emphasis on holistic package development practices within the department. The individual will be expected to accomplish objectives through their own contributions, their direct reports, and indirect reporting relationships / teams across the region.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership : Ensure project planning and management for streamlined execution by prioritizing responsibilities to achieve excellence in project completion.
- Manage and deliver against performance metrics with direct reports and cross-functional partners in the packaging value chain.
- Lead the technical aspect of product development, optimize functionality and transportation; approve packaging material specifications.
- Develop and implement robust processes for product scale-up, facilitating a smooth transition from development to manufacturing.
- Establish relationships with suppliers to access high-quality, innovative packaging materials, technologies, and designs.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across packaging engineers and stakeholders through analytics and opportunity identification.
- Understand and interpret customer / business requirements to develop solutions and leverage existing ones.
- Provide technical support to First Brands packaging production plants and Manufacturing Operations.
- Ensure the team has a Safety & Security Plan (S&SP) and develop their skills; conduct root cause analyses and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Perform training gap analysis and create training plans to address identified gaps.
- Demonstrate excellent negotiation and people skills to manage difficult conversations; manage relationships with internal stakeholders to maximize value.
- Challenge the status quo to improve business processes; conduct post-implementation reviews for lessons learned and drive process improvements (Lean / Kaizen, Six Sigma).
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required (Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred).Full-English professional proficiency.Proven managerial experience; at least 7 years in similar roles, preferably in automotive or food industries.Experience in people management with strong interpersonal skills and team development.Technical and analytical skills in Packaging Engineering and packaging development.Strong communicator, influencer, and cross-functional partner.Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with attention to detail and high-quality deliverables.Understanding of process improvement and quality improvement concepts.Preferred Requirements / Qualifications
