Overview
We are partnering with a leading real estate developer in Mexico, specializing in industrial parks and last-mile logistics, to hire a Construction Director. This key leadership role oversees the full construction cycle : pre-construction, design, permitting, execution, and project close-out. The position is office-based in Mexico City with regular travel to project sites, leading a multidisciplinary team of 10 professionals, including managers of construction, architecture, BIM, permitting, and sustainability. The company is a developer and project manager, not a construction firm, emphasizing strategic oversight, technical excellence, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership : Define and implement construction strategies aligned with the company's vision, including policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Pre-Construction Oversight : Lead the pre-construction phase as critical to project success, ensuring integration of executive project plans, technical studies, and permitting processes.
- Design and BIM Coordination : Supervise multidisciplinary design development (architecture, structure, MEP, exterior works) under BIM to ensure constructability and regulatory compliance.
- Permitting and Regulatory Compliance : Ensure projects meet local, state, and federal regulations; coordinate with legal and permitting teams to align technical development with administrative timelines.
- Project Execution : Monitor progress, quality, safety, and adherence to project objectives; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Team Development : Mentor and develop the construction team, promoting high performance and collaboration.
- Innovation and Sustainability : Introduce modern construction practices, materials, and sustainable design solutions.
- Interdepartmental Coordination : Collaborate with ESG, legal, architecture, cost management, investments, and property management teams for integrated project delivery.
Qualifications
Education : Architecture or Civil Engineering.Languages : Advanced English required.Experience :10 years in construction or project management roles in industrial or commercial developments.Proven expertise in pre-construction, industrial warehouse design, and permitting.Currently in a senior managerial role, ready to step into a Director-level position.Professional Attributes :Energetic and innovative, with the ability to lead high-performing teams.
