Overview :
Our engineering firm operates across the United States and Mexico with approximately 130 employees at our Mexico facility. The Mexico operations support US-based engineering projects through workshare arrangements. This position manages the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the Mexico facility as part of the broader business unit finance team structure.
We’re looking for a finance leader who combines technical precision with cultural sensitivity to strengthen our Mexico operations for daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance for our Mexico facility. Reporting to the BU (Business Unit) Finance Business Partner, you’ll manage a team of local finance staff and serve as the on-site finance lead in Mexico. This is a hands-on operational role requiring strong execution skills in Mexican accounting practices, month-end close process, tax compliance, and cross-border transaction management.

Key Responsibilities :
Daily Financial Operations (45%)
- Manage month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate financial statements and timely reporting / meeting to senior management.
- Oversee accounts payable / receivable, billing, payroll, cash management, bank reconciliations, validations and general ledger processes.
- Maintain relationships with banks, vendors, and regulatory bodies, and implement robust internal controls and approval workflows.
- Drive process improvements and automation, partner on Power BI dashboard development, and support finance transformation initiatives, drive adoption of new technologies including varies company approved AI tools to enhance analysis, reporting and efficiency
- Lead and support audit processes, coordinate with external auditors and internal teams, and optimize cash flow and working capital.
- Collaborate with HR, Marketing, and cross-functional teams across headquarters, India, and Mexico for process improvements and in-country communications.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, define and track key financial metrics, establish policies and procedures, and provide financial insights and recommendations to drive performance.
Work-Share Project Accounting (25%)
Prepare project review reports and monitor profitability, cost allocation, and billing accuracy.Coordinate with project managers and finance partners on budgets, cost tracking, and financial optimization.Maintain transfer pricing documentation and strengthen earned value management for complex programs.Provide financial modeling for bids, proposals, and new business initiatives, while flagging cost overruns to BU Finance Business PartnerTax Compliance & Reporting (15%)
Ensure full compliance with Mexican statutory requirements and deadlines, including accurate tax filings, labor-related financial obligations (IMSS, INFONAVIT), and maintenance of profit sharing (PTU) records.Coordinate with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies to resolve complex tax matters, address audits, and stay updated on evolving local tax laws and regulations.Maintain robust documentation and internal controls for all compliance activities, proactively identifying risks and implementing best practices to support legal and financial integrity.Budgeting & Analysis (10%)
Support BU Finance Business Partner annual budget preparation, update quarterly forecasts, and analyze variances to provide actionable insights for decision-making.Track key financial metrics, prepare management reports, and conduct cost analysis to identify efficiency improvements and cost reduction opportunities.Lead monthly reviews of WIP, backlog, and billing to ensure financial accuracy, drive billing hygiene, and optimize cash conversion.Team Supervision (5%)
Supervise and coach 3 finance staff members, assigning work and providing feedback.Conduct performance reviews, support career development, and cross-train team members for coverage.Foster teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and maintain department morale.Qualifications :
What You Will Bring :
Education
MBA or master´s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredCPA (Contador Público) certification or equivalent accounting / finance certification strongly preferredExperience and Skills :
7+ years of accounting and finance experience minimum, 10+ years preferred (minimum 2-3 years supervising experience.Background working with US companies or managing cross-border transactions required.Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP, tax regulations, and financial KPIs requiredExperience with manufacturing, engineering, or project-based businesses preferred; cost accounting or project accounting experience preferredExperience in mergers and acquisitions, including strategic decision-making, conducting financial analysis, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing legal support throughout the transaction lifecycle preferred.Proficiency in ERP systems (Deltek experience preferred but not required) and advanced Excel.Fluent in Spanish and English (B2+ proficiency in both written and spoken).Strong analytical, leadership, decision-making, strategic thinking, ethical, emotional intelligence, attention to details and communication skills.What We Bring :
