Position highlights : this is an engineering leadership role leading data science initiatives to drive business profitability, efficiencies, and customer experience. The role will function as Staff Data Scientist within a team of AI / ML engineers to build models and analytics and to run one of the world’s largest automotive and industrial replacement parts operations.

This individual must be a technologist and data scientist at heart, comfortable enabling new technology and hands-on with execution of strategy. Strong collaboration with business teams, application development, and security is required, along with exceptional communication, relationship-building, and talent development capabilities.

Responsibilities

• As a Staff Data Scientist, collaborate with data scientists, AI / ML engineers, and product managers to build and augment AI-driven digital Catalog, Discovery (Search & Recommendations) products. Leverage deep learning, machine learning, linear algebra, probability, statistics, and optimization using Python, Scala; perform data exploration, implement algorithms, deploy to production, and analyze performance and trade-offs.
• Review business context, define vision and requirements, propose options, and develop a roadmap for the chosen solution.
• Understand and apply Agile principles, software design best practices, participate in code reviews, and maintain a well-tested codebase with documentation.
• Initiate meetings with senior management to understand business drivers and functional requirements.
• Identify and recommend solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options considering productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
• Communicate architecture to stakeholders and collaborate with domain architects to formalize IT standards and procedures.
• Provide oversight to ensure best practices, automation, quality, timeliness, operational readiness, and cost-effective solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to lead engineers and the technical team within a domain.
• GPC has two work locations to choose from, Duluth or Atlanta office. We offer a flexible hybrid Work Policy.
