Role summary
The Therapeutic Area lead is a role within Value and Implementation Global Medical and Scientific Affairs reporting directly to the Executive Country Medical Director and is an important medical leader and point of contact for the therapeutic area-related activities for Mexico as aligned with the LATAM region.
The Therapeutic Area lead will be the primary contact for all and will aim to strengthen internal and external partnerships to increase overall performance in areas of unmet need.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Primary Activities
The Therapeutic Area lead is responsible for Medical Affairs management, including Insight management, Group Input Meeting, non-promotional medical education programs, independent medical grants, metrics reports and dashboards, medical review, scientific training, Pre-License Patient Access Programs, local data generation, Investigator Studies Program, and budget for the others.
Serves as matrix leadership of country Therapeutic Area lead team to ensure bidirectional communication and implementation of Therapeutic Area lead strategy
Is core member of Country Leadership Team and supports
Closely interacts with Regional Therapeutic Area Team around regional priorities
Plans and executes Therapeutic Area budget
Cross-Functional Work
Serves as core member of country Therapeutic Area lead Human Health Commercial Business Line.
Provide disease updates, scientific expertise, and insights into committee
Works with Pricing and Market Access team to ensure added value from Therapeutic Area lead Medical Affairs with the aim of securing access for appropriate patients in region
Provides key input to Regulatory Affairs as a part of the cross-functional team that drives input to regulatory submissions
Partners with clinical development team and Global Clinical Trial Operations particularly in solving complex issues and ensuring strategic alignment
Partners with qualified people for Pharmaco-Vigilance on critical safety issues as needed (e.g., the extensive additional Risk Minimization Measures)
Is key stakeholder in design
External Stakeholder Engagement
Drives and leads our relationships with key medical / health societies in Mexico
Collaborates with Therapeutic Area lead co-operative groups across the Country / Region
Establishes and manages relationships with the top Therapeutic Area lead key scientific leaders across the country
Collaborate with our policy team to develop external interactions with governments, players, etc. (as needed)
Innovation and Digital Solutions
Explores novel innovative and digital solutions internally and externally
Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
Minimum
Master degree, with clinical degree (medical training, residence) in related medical specialties (internal medicine, cardiology, immunology, infectology)
Extensive people management experience
Extensive background in the Therapeutic Area lead (5 years minimum either in clinical settings or the pharmaceutical industry)
Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to set goals and align priorities
Strong business acumen, ethics, and credible reputation with the external scientific community
Demonstrated creativity and effectiveness in addressing strategic challenges.
An entrepreneurial mindset and is capable of thinking out of the box and taking measured risks.
Strong cross functional collaboration
Ability to manage a highly complex matrix organization comfortably
English : advanced / fluent
Preferred
Additional advanced degrees, entry on a specialist register (pharmaceutical medicine or a relevant specialty)
