Astellas’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.

Purpose and Scope :
This position is accountable for the payroll accounting activities and cost accrual accounting across all relevant jurisdictions. It ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of both payroll disbursements and vendor-related liability accounting, maintaining strict adherence to Astellas financial policies, J-SOX controls, and multi-jurisdictional regulations. The role serves as a key liaison between Finance, HR, business partners, and external stakeholders, driving process standardization, automation, and control effectiveness within the Global Capability Centres to support the Agile Operating Model.
The role serves also as the primary liaison with business process owners, Genpact service teams, Accounts Payable, and external auditors for all cost accrual matters
Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
Cost Accruals & Vendor Accounting :
- Lead the monthly Global Functions accruals process for assigned cost centers, directing third-party teams to establish recurring accruals and perform true-up entries.
- Prepare, review, and approve audit accruals for external engagements and manage insurance premium accruals and reserve calculations.
- Oversee commercial and vendor accruals by obtaining statements and estimates and approving vendor accrual journals.
- Consolidate, validate, and reconcile Property Management accruals, payments to general ledger accounts, and accrual estimates against actual invoices.
- Analyze Delta Accrual (WD-2) and Final Accrual (WD-3) files to identify prepaids or invoices pertaining to future periods.
Payroll & Compensation :
Execute and oversee comprehensive payroll review processes within the payroll system, including the maintenance of necessary conversion tables and the monthly reconciliation of all payroll-related general ledger accounts.Coordinate and approve scheduled and ad-hoc payments, including monthly payroll, employee benefits, savings plans, social contributions, and mandated deductions (e.g., garnishments).Perform detailed payroll reconciliations across all required jurisdictions.Execute the accounting, calculation, and reconciliation of both short-term incentive (STI) and long-term incentive (LTI) plans, maintaining high confidentiality and serving as a critical financial control point.Coordinate the generation of monthly STI and LTI accrual files with the Human Resources function, and actively lead efforts to globally consolidate and standardize accrual processesManage the comprehensive accounting and reconciliation of employee benefits accruals, including retirement plans, health insurance, profit sharing, and deferred compensation schemes.Governance & Business Partnering :
Maintain and enhance the effectiveness of J-SOX internal controls for all payroll and cost accrual processes.Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to payroll operations and cost accruals, ensuring timely resolution of all findings.Act as the primary liaison with Human Resources for all matters concerning payroll and incentive plans.Collaborate with business partners, PO owners, and cross-functional teams to gather accrual inputs, validate estimates, and resolve discrepancies.Support regional and divisional controllers with the timely escalation and resolution of issues and advise on process improvements.Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent relevant subject.ACA / or ACCA / or CPA and / or equivalent accounting qualification or experienceFluent in written and spoken business English and Spanish.Experience :
Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a multinational environment with expertise in payroll accounting management and / or cost accrual accounting.Demonstrated expertise in multi-jurisdictional compliance, including tax regulations and statutory reporting.Proven track record managing complex accounting processes, vendor liability reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives.Experience with J-SOX / SOX compliance frameworks, internal control environments, and supporting external audits.Prior experience in Global Business Services or Shared Service Centre operations is preferred.Technical Knowledge :
Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS as they relate to payroll and accrual accounting.Solid understanding of internal controls, J-SOX / SOX frameworks, and finance governanceFamiliarity payroll tax regulations across Americas jurisdictionsComprehensive knowledge of incentive compensation plans (STI, LTI) and benefits accounting.Familiarity with insurance reserve calculations and audit engagement accrualsWorking Environment
This position is based in Mexico and will require on-site work in a hybrid set up.
