As a Senior Software Engineer , you’ll lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and resilient backend services that power Outlook clients. You’ll own service architecture, delivery, and operations—ensuring high availability and performance for one of Microsoft’s most used products, while driving engineering excellence across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
• Identify dependencies and develop design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
• Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and ROI.
• Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, monitoring the system for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders, and initiating actions to restore service as appropriate.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to trends and solutions that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance at scale, driving consistency in monitoring and operations.
