This team focuses on building from the ground up (0→1 product development), fostering innovation with autonomy, and cultivating a culture of self-sufficiency and technical excellence to shape the future of continuous integration and delivery.

About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a technical authority responsible for transforming our API ecosystem, shaping integration strategies (including with AI assistants), and architecting solutions at scale. You will work at the intersection of distributed systems, developer productivity, and reliability—driving platform innovation while mentoring engineers and collaborating with organizational leaders.

What You’ll Do :

• Architect and implement scalable, high-performance APIs that serve as the backbone of CircleCI’s developer experience.
• Lead complex, cross-functional engineering projects to enhance scalability, reliability, and usability of our systems.
• Design and implement advanced integration points with AI tools and agents to extend developer capabilities.
• Partner with stakeholders to define and execute technical strategies aligned with company goals.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Address challenging production incidents, applying deep systems expertise to identify and resolve root causes.
• Enhance observability and telemetry systems to support rapid debugging and system optimization.
