About Your New Role
We’re seeking an exceptional Technical Leader to spearhead the next evolution of our 13-year-strong Quote Engine—a mission-critical system powering our quoting and pricing operations. As the Founding Engineer for this transformation, you’ll lead the architectural reimagining of a complex, high-throughput system and play a pivotal role in shaping the product and technical roadmap for the next decade.
This is a rare opportunity to build the future while standing on a strong, battle-tested foundation. You’ll provide hands-on technical direction, lead a handpicked squad of engineers, and collaborate with senior stakeholders across Sales, Vendor Management, Finance, and the C-suite.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Architecture & Technical Vision : Re-architect our Quote Engine into a next-generation, scalable, cloud-native platform using modern design patterns and technologies.
- Build & Lead a Team : Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performance engineering team focused on reliability, scalability, and innovation.
- Collaborate Across the Org : Partner closely with cross-functional leaders in Sales, Finance, Vendor Management, and executive leadership to align technical initiatives with business goals.
- Ensure Operational Excellence : Drive high standards for performance, resilience, observability, and maintainability. Establish SLAs / SLOs and lead chaos testing and incident response practices.
- Champion Engineering Culture : Define best practices, write Engineering Playbooks, facilitate Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and coach mid-level engineers on advanced systems concepts.
Must-Have Technical Expertise
7+ years designing and writing production code in at least one of the following : Go, PHP, Python (asyncio)Proven experience with highly scalable, concurrent systemsExpertise in :Multithreaded architectures and concurrency primitives (locks, CAS, futures, non-blocking I / O)Distributed systems design, including CAP trade-offs and consistency modelsReactive / actor frameworks like Akka, Orleans, or Azure Service Fabric Reliable ActorsEvent-driven architectures and queue-centered microservicesDesigning idempotent, durable flows with Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or Service BusBack-pressure strategies, circuit breakers, and fault toleranceAzure (preferred), including Service Bus, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, and Azure MonitorServerless orchestration with fan-out / fan-in strategiesAuthentication & Security : OAuth 2.0, HMAC, mTLS, secrets management, rate limitingSystems & DevOps Familiarity
Observability : OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Azure MonitorCI / CD : Canary releases, green / blue deploymentsOperational Readiness : Chaos drills, SLO / SLA planning, load-sheddingDocumentation : Engineering playbooks, technical ADRsWho You Are
