Your Mission at UNEDO
You'll work hand-in-hand with the Editor in Chief to manage the day-to-day creation of all in-app content IN SPANISH, from daily puzzles to cultural articles. Your core mission : bring UNEDO's editorial vision to life through smooth production, smart editing, and unwavering attention to quality.
You'll ensure that every piece of content, no matter how small, reflects our tone, standards, and cultural depth. You'll translate big-picture strategy into concrete execution, overseeing the editorial pipeline so that our content feels fresh, thoughtful, and consistently UNEDO.
What you will be responsible for
- Owning the editorial production process from assigning pieces to writers through to final delivery, ensuring content is produced smoothly and published on schedule.
- Helping manage a small but growing team by providing writers with clear guidance and feedback, while ensuring deadlines and editorial standards are consistently met.
- Ensuring editorial alignment so that every puzzle and article reflects UNEDO's principles — cultural depth, clarity, and real-world relevance.
- Upholding editorial quality control by reviewing content with a sharp eye for cultural nuance and factual accuracy across our editorial verticals.
- Improving workflows by helping to optimize systems for content planning, editing, approvals, and publishing.
What the Day-to-Day Looks Like
Managing the editorial planning by curating the right mix of content across UNEDO's verticalsAssigning and tracking content creation by writers based on production needs and editorial priorities.Working closely with writers to approve article themes, guide angles, and provide clear, constructive feedback throughout the writing process.Editing cultural articles and puzzles to ensure clarity, tone, and alignment with UNEDO's editorial voice.Jumping in where needed, whether that's rewriting a tricky paragraph, fact-checking a cultural reference, or polishing a puzzle.Collaborating with the Editor in Chief to evolve the content strategy and shape future formats.Who We're Looking For
A native Spanish speaker with excellent writing and editing skills — fluent in both casual and formal registers.Experienced working across cultural contexts to work with writers from different Spanish-speaking countries and to create content that resonates with a U.S. audience.Naturally curious and culturally engaged, with a wide range of interests — from food to film, history to slang.Someone with editorial rigor — attentive to detail, culturally sensitive, and uncompromising when it comes to factual accuracy and nuance.Skilled at making content accessible and entertaining for readers who are discovering new cultural contexts from Spanish speaking countries.Able to balance strategy with execution — you have strong editorial instincts and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and solve problems as they come.Adaptable, resourceful, and proactive — someone who thrives in a startup environment and knows how to keep things moving, even when not everything is perfectly defined.Experience & Background
Ideally, at least 3 years of experience as a Managing Editor — or in a similar editorial leadership role within journalism, publishing, digital media, or a cultural institution. The role should combine strategic oversight with hands-on content execution.Experience editing and managing writers with different backgrounds, and cultural contexts.Prior experience working in a bilingual or cross-cultural environment.A strong track record of producing high-quality, culturally relevant content.Familiarity with editorial workflows and CMS tools or the ability to learn quickly.That said, if your experience doesn't follow a traditional path but you've built the right skills through personal projects, cultural work, or non-linear roles, we'd still love to hear from you.
