Supplier Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring progress and timeliness of actions taken by the SDE team with current and new suppliers to ensure they deliver components of the required quality, on time, and in accordance with the specifications of the drawings provided during Advanced Quality Planning for new projects with suppliers, conducting follow-up audits in conjunction with purchasing from the negotiation stages through to the start of production.
• Oversees the development, implementation, and execution of the supplier development strategy for the BorgWarner DBS Irapuato SDE team.
• Oversees the development, implementation, and execution of quality assurance for new launches in conjunction with global supplier management and corporate supplier development.
• Oversees and controls the planning, execution, and measurement of the effectiveness of audits of suppliers and potential suppliers using quality system assessments and standards, carried out by the BorgWarner BDS Irapuato SDE team.
• Verifies the cadence, together with the Supplier Quality Engineer, of follow-up meetings and corrective actions for supplier issues.
• Oversees and verifies the presentation of the SDE team's evaluation of supplier incident quality indicators and monthly PPMs.
• Provides support and guidance in decision-making related to suppliers and the quality of their components, in conjunction with Product Engineering and Quality.
• Participate in and supervise the development of the Supplier Quality Engineer's skills and competencies, transferring technical knowledge through internal training.
• Participate in the preparation of FMEA documentation.
• Participate in and suggest the use of improvement tools in your areas of work and with suppliers for the development of continuous improvement or cost reduction projects.
