Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Vice President to lead our Strategic Accounts business across Latin America, based in Mexico. This individual will be responsible for growing Wood Mackenzie's consulting footprint with governments, national oil companies (NOCs), utilities, and state-affiliated mining entities, particularly in Mexico, Colombia, and the wider Spanish-speaking region.
The role carries the commercial target for consulting in Latin America (ex-Brazil) for Strategic Accounts and also involves leading the Mexico-based consulting team, mentoring talent, and driving high-impact client engagement. The successful candidate will be an exceptional relationship builder, a seasoned consulting practitioner, and a capable leader who can operate at the highest levels across public and private sectors.
Main Responsibilities
Client and Commercial LeadershipLead the client partner for strategic government and NOC relationships across Latin AmericaBuild and execute account strategies to grow revenues and influence with key public sector clientsCultivate long-term C-suite relationships with national institutions such as PEMEX, CFE, Ecopetrol, ENAP, and YPF, as well as ministries and regulatorsLead the origination, structuring, and commercial negotiation of major consulting engagementsEnsure client delivery meets Wood Mackenzie's high standards and delivers measurable impactTeam LeadershipLead the Mexico-based consulting team, including Directors, Principals, and early-career consultantsAct as a mentor and coach to develop regional talent and build a sustainable consulting capability in-countryCreate a high-performing culture grounded in collaboration, resilience, and regional relevanceEnsure effective resourcing and delivery of engagements across multiple sectors (oil & gas, power, mining, renewables)Strategic ContributionActively contribute to the global Strategic Accounts and Consulting leadership teamsShape our regional consulting offerings to align with Latin American client needs and policy agendasRepresent Wood Mackenzie in key industry forums and government engagementsEmbed thought leadership and elevate the firm's voice in energy transition dialogues across the regionAbout You
15–20+ years in consulting, strategy, or leadership roles within the energy or natural resources sectors; must include prior experience selling consulting projects in Latin AmericaDeep familiarity with Mexico and broader Latin America. Must demonstrate fluency in navigating government procurement, public sector business culture, and key stakeholders in energy and miningCross-sectoral perspective across hydrocarbons, power & renewables, and mining; while subject matter expertise is valued, strong commercial credibility and solution selling ability is paramountProven track record of owning sales targets and closing deals in the range of $500K to $1.5m; experience working with complex public sector clients is criticalFluency in Spanish and English is essentialDemonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, inspire junior talent, and represent the company with credibility in high-stakes client interactionsA well-developed network across public-sector decision-makers, regulators, and national companies; regarded as a trusted advisor in the regionWhat We Offer
