Job Description : Tax Accounting Senior Manager Position Summary
The Tax Accounting Senior Manager will oversee the Bank’s income tax financial reporting for the group and its subsidiaries. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing income tax provisions, disclosures, and accruals under U.S. GAAP and IFRS. The Senior Manager will provide technical guidance on tax accounting, support significant accounting items, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to partner across Finance, Tax, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Accounting & Reporting
Manage financial reporting for income taxes of the Bank and its subsidiaries.
Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions and related disclosures.
Review monthly tax accruals and tax balance roll forwards to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide technical guidance on tax reporting matters under U.S. GAAP (ASC 740) and IFRS.
Interact with Finance, Risk, and Accounting teams on significant accounting items with tax implications.
Oversee the calculation of current and deferred tax assets and liabilities, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
Regulatory Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with SOX controls, SEC filing requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
Support the preparation of tax-related disclosures in financial statements (10-K, carve-out, and IPO readiness reports).
Maintain strong documentation and control environment around all tax reporting processes.
Advisory & Business Support
Provide guidance on tax implications of transactions, restructurings, and accounting judgments.
Partner with external auditors and regulators on tax reporting requirements and reviews.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, ensuring high-quality deliverables and continuous professional growth.
Promote process improvements, automation, and best practices in tax reporting and accounting.
Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s preferred.
CPA required; MST or equivalent tax / accounting certification is a plus.
Experience
~8–12 years of progressive experience in tax accounting and financial reporting, preferably in banking or Big 4 public accounting with financial institutions.
~ Strong technical expertise in ASC 740 (U.S. GAAP) and IFRS tax reporting.
~ Experience preparing and reviewing income tax provisions, disclosures, and accruals.
~ Demonstrated ability to manage complex tax reporting across multiple subsidiaries.
~ Prior experience leading staff and working in a regulated, fast-paced environment.
Skills
Strong technical and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex tax matters clearly.
Proficiency in tax provision and reporting systems (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax) and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
