  • About the job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

As a Staff Software Engineer working on the Chrome Accessibility team, you will help us make Chrome universally accessible and useful. Without the things we build, some users wouldn’t be able to use Chrome at all. We’re focused on opening new possibilities for these users and making new experiences possible for them. Going beyond just enabling people to use our products and services, we want to find new ways to become a companion in people’s lives. Your projects will have crucial impact on these users as you address hard technical problems and coordinate with many teams at Google to find solutions that make Chrome an amazing platform for everyone.

    Responsibilities

  • Build and improve Chrome OS platform features for users with disabilities, including screen reading, braille support, magnification, color enhancement, and more.
  • Improve the web platform with tools and APIs to help developers make their web apps accessible to everyone.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards and best practices.
