High-level partnership with Business and functions with preventive risks, mitigate measures and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Strategic mindset to analyze risks, make pre-mortems, and propose preventive solutions.
Coordinate all functions and activities from Legal Dept.
Supervise and control all claims and litigation, managing the strategy, arguments and conferring closely about contents with outside counsel, as well as provide contingency reports.
Prevent legal risk by drafting templates, trainings, policies, guidelines and standards aligned with Legal LATAM; translating laws and regulations to business requirements, templates, policies and procedures.
Provide strategic proactive legal advice on a wide range of proposed business initiatives and projects.
Coordinate, prepare and negotiate agreements in several areas.
Manage outside legal counsel in Mexico and the departmental budget.
Handle a variety of legal projects with high strategic, financial impact, risk and reputation exposure, time constraints, and multiple internal and external stakeholders, including cross-border matters.
Lead and serve on project teams and committees to assess and implement special / significant projects in the local business.
Maintain constant communication with key stakeholders (e.g., Board of Directors, Chief Counsel LATAM, and other senior managers).
Develop people and participate in the Legal LATAM team as an active member, exchanging experiences.
Lead analysis and group discussions to propose solutions to mitigate risks for the company.
Qualifications
Background : Law degree and license to practice law; fully qualified lawyer with more than 15 years of diverse experience leading legal departments in Mexico; relevant experience as in-house lawyer in multinational companies or in law firms; fluent English (written and spoken).
