The Staff Civil Engineer (Substations) will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on high voltage substations and transmission lines projects. The Staff Civil Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil and structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Overall

• Applies strong knowledge of commonly used civil and structural engineering / design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the civil engineering services industry.
• Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of high voltage substations and transmission lines.
• Participate in development of project schedule, scope, budget, staffing planning and construction planning. Responsible for effective management of change orders.
• Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
• Build effective relationships with existing clients, customer and contractors and develop new business opportunities. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the civil and structural engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
