We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Legal Director to join our team in Mexico City. The successful candidate will oversee all legal matters in Mexico, provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership, and ensure compliance with local, regional, and international regulations. This role requires deep expertise in the logistics and / or transportation industries and the ability to operate in a bilingual (English / Spanish) environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide specialized legal advice to senior management on local and international regulations in the port and logistics sector to business units
  • Ensure compliance with industry and business laws, regulations, and standards in all operations
  • Act as company secretary, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, including managing the company's legal reports to shareholders, partners, external auditors, DP World Americas, and DP World headquarters
  • Develop and implement corporate governance policies to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Act as a liaison with government agencies and industry associations to promote favorable policies

LEGAL COMPLIANCE

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for Mexico, providing strategic counsel on business operations, contracts, compliance, and corporate governance
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including transportation, logistics, procurement, and service contracts
  • Monitor regulatory changes in Mexico and ensure business operations remain compliant with applicable laws
  • Responsibility for corporate governance and entity compliance
  • Oversee dispute resolution, litigation, and external counsel management
  • Partner with leadership to support strategic initiatives, M&A activities, and risk management efforts
  • Develop and implement compliance frameworks, policies, and employee training programs
  • Ensure alignment of local legal practices with global corporate standards
  • GENERAL

  • Manage the budget for external legal advice in terms of time, quality, and service
  • As a member of DP World Mexico's senior management team, support business plans and budget processes
  • Comply with company rules, procedures, policies, and regulations
  • Observe and apply safety and environmental standards within the area under your responsibility
  • Perform and complete scheduled and unscheduled tasks
  • Comply with the Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy
  • Comply with the channels for reporting irregularities
  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Law degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) from a recognized Mexican university
  • Valid Cédula Professional
  • 10+ years of Legal experience with a strong background in the logistics or transportation sector
  • Proven track record in managing corporate, commercial, compliance, and regulatory matters in Mexico
  • Experience working in multinational corporations or advising them through top-tier law firms
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and advisory skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • High ethical standards and a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Additional international legal qualifications (e.g., LL.M.) are a plus
