Overview

McDonald’s, one of the most recognized brands in the world, is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to own the development of our in-store technology as part of the Commercial Product & Platform organization. The Commercial Product & Platform vision develops global technology products and platforms that delight our customers and enable our crews to operate our restaurants reliably and effectively. The Software Engineer II role reports to the Sr Engineering Manager, Chapter Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of McDonald’s restaurant software. The software includes an application user interface, API layer, data management, and data communication with external systems, with stringent reliability and performance requirements as well as the needs of our customers. This is an opportunity to contribute to technology that drives better customer experiences and supports restaurant operations globally.

We’re recruiting engineers to join our Global Technology team in Mexico City as we open our McDonald’s Global Office in Mexico. Our Mexico City Office will be a hub for technology innovation and operational support to help us build the solutions that will improve our customer, crew and employee experience each and every day.

Responsibilities

  • Working in a software development team for Restaurant software applications that support the design and development of new functionality.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the agile development life cycle including design, development, documentation, testing and operations, and actively participating in and executing the scrum process.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions for web applications.
  • Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality and create innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Provide frequent progress updates to the direct manager and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development with React framework, JavaScript / TypeScript and HTML / CSS.
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems, writing software requirements, design, and related engineering documentation.
  • Proven leadership abilities in an engineering environment in driving operational precision and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of UI / UX MVVM.
  • Experience developing software within an Agile environment, unit testing, effective code reviews, and utilizing SDLC effectively for delivering high-quality software.
  • Experience in developing Backend-For-Frontend (BFF) services in Java or C# is preferred.
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases, Redis Cache is preferred.
  • Experience developing and releasing software within a CI / CD environment using GitHub actions or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a variety of client settings and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, including remote work.
  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements to launch and delivery.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and self-starter.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with QA frameworks such as Cypress, Postman, and UI Testing.
  • Experience with React Native.
  • Experience with Next.js.
  • Experience with Node.js and REST APIs.
  • Experience with network client / server architecture.
