Python and Kubernetes Software Engineer - Data, AI / ML & Analytics at Canonical. Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems. Location : This initiative spans multiple time zones; most team members are broadly in the same time zone to enable collaboration. Most colleagues work remotely; some travel may be required for company events.

What your day will look like

As part of the team, you will contribute to an end-to-end data analytics and MLOps solution using open-source tools (e.g., Kubeflow, MLflow, DVC, Feast). You may work on workflow, ETL, data governance, visualization (Apache Superset, dbt, Temporal), or data warehouses (Apache Trino, ClickHouse). The team owns an analytics / ML solution and integrates with other teams to build an end-to-end data platform. Solutions may run on servers, in the cloud, on Kubernetes, on developer desktops, or as web services.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of the Linux stack from kernel and networking to the application layer
• Design, build, and maintain solutions for deployment on public / private clouds and local workstations
• Master distributed systems concepts such as observability, identity, and tracing
• Work with Kubernetes and machine-oriented open source applications
• Collaborate with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers
• Debug issues and engage with upstream and Ubuntu communities
• Generate ideas and collaborate on solutions
