Head of Data Science & Data Engineering

Overview

As the Head of Data Science & Data Engineering , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Bankaya's data capabilities. This is a unique hybrid leadership position where you will both manage and mentor our talented Data Science and Data Engineering teams while also remaining a hands-on individual contributor. You\'ll work directly on the most critical projects, unblocking the team and ensuring we deliver high-quality, impactful data solutions.

You will be a key member of our internal Design Committee, collaborating with our ML Architect, Business Intelligence / Data Coordinator, and Tech Leads to define and execute our long-term data strategy. This is a rare opportunity to build, lead, and get your hands dirty with the technology that drives a leading Mexican fintech.

What You'll Do

• Lead & Grow the Team : You will lead and manage a high-performing team of data engineers and data scientists. Your primary focus will be on their career development, providing mentorship, and fostering a collaborative, innovative, and technically excellent culture.
• Be a Hands-On IC : You won\'t just be a manager. You will be a hands-on contributor, jumping into the code to finish critical tasks, solve complex technical challenges, and unblock the team when needed.
• Define Strategic Direction : As part of the Design Committee, you will help set the technical vision and roadmap for our entire data ecosystem. You will be responsible for defining our data platform, architecture, and technology stack.
• Drive End-to-End Solutions : You will oversee the entire data lifecycle, from building robust data pipelines and warehousing solutions to deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production.
• Collaborate and Partner : You will work closely with stakeholders across the company, including Product, Engineering, and Business teams, to understand their needs and deliver data-driven solutions that directly impact our business and customers.
