Tooling Design Engineer 5&6
Objective
Responsible for the design, development, and optimization of tooling systems used in manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams including product engineering, maintenance, and production to deliver robust, efficient, and innovative tooling solutions that support operational excellence.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, model, and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and dies required for manufacturing processes.
- Translate product specifications and manufacturing requirements into effective tooling designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide input during product development for manufacturability.
- Perform stress and tolerance analysis to ensure tooling durability and performance.
- Support prototype builds and validate tooling performance through trials and simulations.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source, fabricate, and qualify tooling components.
- Continuously improve existing tooling to reduce cycle times, scrap, and maintenance costs.
- Implement standards and best practices in tooling design, ensuring compliance with safety and industry regulations.
- Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of tools.
- Maintain documentation, CAD models, and design records according to engineering standards
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar required.Advanced English requiredMore than 3 years of experience in tooling design within automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing industryProficiency in CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and material selection for tooling.Understanding of machining, fabrication, and heat treatment processes.Familiarity with lean manufacturing, DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly), and PFMEA.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
