Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer for the plating / finishing area is responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes to ensure quality, safety, and productivity standards are met. This role supports daily operations, leads process optimization initiatives, and ensures compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements in plating and surface treatment processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for plating and finishing operations to improve quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Analyze production methods and recommend improvements in equipment, tooling, workflow, and chemical usage.
- Support daily operations by troubleshooting process issues and providing technical guidance to supervisors and operators.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other methodologies.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure process stability.
- Monitor and control process parameters, chemical baths, and environmental conditions to meet specifications and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Participate in new product introductions, process validations, and capability studies.
- Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations related to chemical handling, waste treatment, and emissions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for quality or process issues.
- Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, and layout improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in plating, surface treatment, metal finishing, or a related process environment.Knowledge of chemical processes, bath management, and surface finishing principles.Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools.Understanding of safety and environmental regulations for chemical processes.Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and project management skills.Proficient in CAD software, process mapping, and data analysis tools.Effective communication and teamwork skills in both Spanish and English.Experience with ERP / MRP systems and process documentation.Preferred Skills
Experience in construction materials or metal manufacturing environments.Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma certification.Knowledge of ISO, IATF, or similar quality management systems.Key Competencies
