Key Responsibilities
- Establish, execute, and scale the firm’s U.S. tax practice, ensuring compliance, strategic advice, and operational efficiency.
U.S. Tax Execution & Compliance
Serve as the firm's U.S. Tax Expert, executing all high-level compliance needs, specializing in complex individual and corporate tax returns.Leverage strong foundational accounting skills to ensure accuracy in tax planning, provisioning, and advisory services.Provide strategic Tax Diligence support on transactions (M&A) by identifying tax exposures, compliance issues, and planning opportunities.Practice Building & Operational Strategy
Design, establish, and document the firm’s official tax department processes, including information collection protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Select and recommend appropriate tax preparation and compliance software for firm-wide implementation, with implementation support available.Act as the primary advisor to Ownership on the strategic direction of the tax practice and the allocation of resources.Advisory & Growth Support
Advise on future hiring needs, including recommending and helping interview additional support staff (e.g., operations / process persons).Ensure that the department’s systems and processes are scalable and can be readily integrated into future acquisitions.Maintain a high level of "personality fit" that ensures professionalism and comfort for the firm's existing and prospective clients.Qualifications
Required
Minimum 10 years of hands‑on, high‑level U.S. tax experience (individual and corporate).Proven background equivalent to a U.S. Tax Partner or Senior Manager in a public accounting setting.Expert proficiency in U.S. tax return preparation and strong foundational accounting skills.Extensive familiarity with tax department processes and workflows, including information collection and software usage.Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a US‑based team.Preferred
Experience traveling to the U.S. for tax season or extensive history of remote U.S. tax work.Prior experience in Big Four or mid‑market public accounting firms (mid‑market experience is preferred).Experience advising on software selection and overseeing process implementation.Willingness to consider a 3 to 6 month trial period to ensure role and cultural fit before a full‑time engagement.#J-18808-Ljbffr
