Position Summary
Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)
At FXI, our Supplier Quality Engineers play a key role in ensuring our suppliers deliver products right the first time. This position drives supplier performance by partnering on quality systems, process improvements, and risk prevention from the very start of manufacturing. You’ll collaborate with suppliers to implement best practices, eliminate defects and waste, and support sourcing, production, and development initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Procurement & Product Development Teams, long w / FXI manufacturing locations to define process parameters and criteria [Critical to Quality (CTQ) features] to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet FXI product, process, or service requirements.
- Lead assessment, due-diligence, communication, and mitigation of supplier risk for assigned area of supply.
- Support establishing long-term strategic supplier development plans to facilitate product / service roadmaps and risk prevention strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the qualification of suppliers of critical new programs, through assessment of the suppliers’ manufacturing capability to fabricate and deliver our products / services. These assessments would be around the framework related to ISO QMS audits.
- Lead supplier development projects that gauge supplier process capability, reduce variation, improve capability, availability, and performance.
- Utilize advanced quality practices and tools to analyze risks and systemic issues and improve supplier quality.
- Perform supplier overall capability assessments and audits related to quality systems, process controls, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Measure, monitor, and improve supplier performance, reduce variation / waste, and Cost of Poor Quality.
- Manage the implementation and execution of supplier corrective action / preventive action plans.
- Lead problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers.
- Mentor and guide Supplier Quality Engineers and Project Engineers in capability assessments and audits related to quality systems, process controls, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Assure suppliers maintain a robust change management to ensure flawless implementation of process changes.
- Assist suppliers with the understanding and execution of FXI’s supplier quality manual expectations.
- Produce well-written technical reports, develop, and make presentations for internal FXI management and plant teams.
- Undertake special projects as required.
Education and / or Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or extensive equivalent technical experience, especially in a quality engineering role w / in a manufacturing industry.Extensive experience in Quality / Supplier Quality Engineering positions.Extensive experience working in an ISO9001 QMS (Quality Management System).Thorough understanding of basic textile manufacturing techniquesAbility to read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, and general knowledge of what is required to be provided to a supplier.Comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems and principles and a variety of operational excellence processes.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with no supervision.Ability to utilize Basic Dimensioning and Tolerance in the analysis of current and future products.Strong written and verbal communications.Develop technical reports, business correspondence, and create procedures, manuals.Ability to evaluate quality of manufacturing and production processes against good manufacturing practices and engineering specifications.Have experience w / attribute inspections, boundary samples, visual inspection techniques for visual product standards (color, etc).Ability to assess the effectiveness of suppliers’ quality controls and recommend improvements.Have experience w / Poke Yoke approach to controlling critical to quality processes, including product safety related issues.Experience at conducting either supplier quality audits or internal manufacturing quality audits.Ability to develop First Article Inspection documents, review / recommend changes to supplier provided Inspection and Test Plans.Have experience or working knowledge of LPA audits, Gage R&Rs, Attribute Gage R&RsHave analytical skills, including SPC quality control, process capability studies, Excel and related MS Office tools.Understanding and familiarity with AIAG5-10 years work experience in cut-n-sew or textile operationsQualified, competent, and certified as an ISO 9001 lead auditor.Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt), or equivalent certification, such as Shainin Red XKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, technical procedures, or industry compliance regulations.Advanced knowledge and ability to evaluate manufacturing and production processes.Advanced knowledge of government compliance and regulatory standards.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, project managers, clients, customers, and the public.Additional Information
This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office in Mexico City, w / 50% travel to N.A. Suppliers and FXI locations.
