About This Opportunity

As an Associate General Counsel, you will primarily support our Mexican business unit. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on complex business transactions alongside our local and global business leaders.

Ideal Candidate : The ideal candidate will be a Corporate Generalist with experience in Mexican and cross-border transactions.

This is a hybrid role where you will work partially from home and partially from our Mexico City office in the Miguel Hidalgo area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general legal support to various Mexican business units in a fast-paced technology-based business environment;
  • Draft and negotiate contracts relating to the FinTech industry including distribution, resale, and vendor agreements;
  • Assist business units in resolving business and contractual disputes;
  • Understand business needs and goals, detect legal issues and obstacles, identify solutions and alternatives, and counsel and communicate with executives and managers regarding legal risks, solutions, and alternatives; and
  • Provide other legal support as required.

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer in a corporate law department or law firm. Law degree from a reputable Mexican university and Cédula Profesional required.
  • Experienced managing legal issues including in relation to the FinTech industry, employment issues and / or corporate tax issues preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counsel and guidance on complex legal questions and provide effective advice to clients on routine legal matters.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, and be willing to assist team members as needed.
  • Must be fluent, orally and in writing, in Spanish and English.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills and be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines and be confident and capable of working with both technology and business contacts in a constantly evolving environment.
  • This is a hybrid role. You will work partially from home and partially from our Mexico City office in the Miguel Hidalgo area.
  • You will be part of a sizeable team of lawyers based outside of Mexico and will report to our Atlanta-based Regional Counsel.
