ROLE SUMMARY
The GTEC Order Engineering Supervisor is leading a team of Order Engineers with special focus on Vacuum products.
Order Engineering roles entail activities dealing with issues of production cost, feasibility, quality, performance, reliability, serviceability and customized user features. Addressing these product characteristics may include design, development and transitioning of the product to manufacturing. OE is responsible for technical interpretation of specifications, procedures, policies, quality, and equipment reliability to concerned parties.
The Supervisor of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the Pump team activities in GTEC, supporting corresponding platform in North America.
This position will ensure that Order Engineering teams able to meet the forecasted demand from the sites for Pump platform with the required engineering skills and training and access to the appropriate engineering tools.
The Supervisor of Engineering will work closely with BU engineering leadership to understand the needs of the business and to prioritize engineering assignments in alignment with customer expectations.
The supervisor is responsible to ensure that his team provides high quality engineering output with lead times that are aligned with the needs of the business.
The positions will be located at the Flowserve GTEC Laguna in Torreon, Coahuila.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a team of Engineers to support Pump projects assigned to GTEC Laguna.
Manage the team with a staff of 10 engineers approx.
Collaboration with other GTEC teams to fulfill the BU expectation
Manage and lead by example to inspire the team to grow in Flowserve with strong engineering & technical capabilities.
Drive a culture within the team based on customer focus, ethics, and a strong commitment to handling orders.
Oversee job management and backlog, aligning assignments with individual skillsets to provide timely completion of assigned work with effective utilization of resources
Review and approve the work done by the team and work closely with the engineers, guide, motivate and coach them to meet the business expectations.
Maintain monthly metrics for OTD, quality, efficiency, utilization and productivity, identifying and mitigating any variances from performance expectations at the individual or team level
Partner with Operations, Sales, Quality Assurance, Design Authorities and other stakeholders as necessary to provide customer centric and highly responsive support to process orders according to the project scope and schedule
Provide accurate and informative reports to respective Managers and evaluate the results of project assignments along with appropriate recommended course of action
Focus to build competent engineers in both technical & professional and guide them to meet & exceed their performance metrics to support Flowserve organization.
Provide guidelines to the individual contributors in Laguna & manage them effectively to achieve business targets.
Work closely with the management on training, development opportunities for the team members
Ensure to adapt to Flowserve culture and meet the requirement of leadership and functional competencies.
Drive continuous improvement process culture across the team in collaboration with the business units.
Collaborate with BU’s and Laguna Engineers to improve the Customer Satisfaction and Employee Engagement.
Perform 50% engineering and 50% people management of workhours as needed.
Requirements :
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree.
Minimum 5 years of industrial experience within engineering (Oil & Gas industry, project engineering, 3D design, hydraulic engineering, pressure vessels, electrical engineering, instrumentation and interpreting customer specifications).
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively solve problems and meet business and stakeholder needs.
Solid understanding of engineering CAD, PLM and other tools that are integral to the execution of order engineering work.
Strong commitment to customer service.
Good interpersonal skills and emotional IQ with a demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships.
Strong process orientation.
Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to compose reports and presentations.
