This role requires strong expertise in laboratory management, product innovation, and quality systems, as well as a proven track record in commercial-scale stem cell operations.
The CSO will also serve as a scientific ambassador for the company, representing CELLGENIC at international events, driving collaborations, and guiding educational programs.
This position is based in Cancún, Mexico, where CELLGENIC's advanced laboratories and manufacturing facilities are located.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversee R&D operations, including the design and execution of product development pipelines.Lead laboratory operations with a focus on cell therapy products, exosomes, and peptides, ensuring compliance with commercial-scale standards.Establish and monitor quality control programs, including batch release testing, sterility validation, and product consistency across manufacturing runs.Develop, implement, and update GMP-compliant protocols for production, testing, and storage of cell-based products.Supervise technology transfer, process optimization, and scale-up of stem cell and biologics manufacturing.Coordinate and manage scientific collaborations with research institutions, universities, and commercial partners.Serve as a scientific advisor and keynote presenter at ISSCA events and provide structured training sessions to physicians and partners.Mentor, train, and oversee the scientific and technical staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuous improvement in laboratory performance.Guide regulatory submissions, product registration, and compliance documentation to support international market expansion.Required QualificationsPhD or MD in Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.Minimum of 7 years of experience in cell therapy product development and commercialization.Demonstrated expertise in stem cell laboratories at a commercial scale, including laboratory operations, quality control, and GMP compliance.Strong publication record and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary scientific teams.Bilingual proficiency : Fluent in English and Spanish.Solid understanding of international regulatory frameworks for cell therapies and advanced biologics.Must be based in Cancún, Mexico, or willing to relocate.Preferred QualificationsDirect experience in commercial product launch of cell or biologic therapies.Successful track record of securing research funding, grants, or commercial R&D partnerships.Experience in both research and clinical application of regenerative medicine therapies.Ability to act as a public-facing scientific leader, building CELLGENIC's reputation as a pioneer in regenerative medicine worldwide.Seniority levelExecutiveEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionResearch, Analyst, and Information TechnologyIndustriesHospitals and Health CareReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Global Stem Cells Group by 2xSign in to set job alerts for "Laboratory Manager" roles.We're unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
