A company powered by our people.Job Purpose : The Lead Data Scientist is tasked with spearheading the development and implementation of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and optimization solutions aimed at addressing complex logistics and supply chain challenges within DHL Supply Chain LatAm.
This role merges extensive technical expertise with the leadership of a small, high-performing team (2 members) to deliver scalable, data-driven innovations that enhance decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and generate business value.
A primary focus of this position is to introduce and apply state-of-the-art mathematical and technical capabilities, ensuring that solutions are both analytically robust and practical for scaling.
The Lead Data Scientist is expected to remain abreast of emerging trends in data science and AI, guiding the team in the adoption of new methodologies and technologies that can be seamlessly integrated into operations.
Collaboration is key in this role, as the Lead Data Scientist will work closely with business stakeholders, external vendors, and global AI & Data Analytics teams to ensure alignment across initiatives and maximize the effectiveness of advanced analytical solutions.
Beyond technical leadership, this individual plays a crucial role in fostering a data-literate culture by communicating insights, facilitating adoption, and providing training to the broader organization.Main Accountabilities : Develop and deploy optimization and machine learning models for forecasting, anomaly detection, and classification.Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to derive actionable insights that inform business strategy.Create advanced analytics dashboards for visualizing insights and facilitating decision-making.Guide the team in selecting appropriate modeling techniques and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.Ensure continuous training and upskilling of the team in emerging technologies.Translate complex business questions into structured analytical problems.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate models into business processes and systems.Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Support community-building efforts to promote analytics and data-driven culture across the organization.Oversee the management of outsourced analytical projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value delivery.Who We Are Looking For : Talent with a Data Scientist profile with a strong background in logistics or supply chain environments.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of experience with a Bachelor\'s degree or 3 years with a Master\'s / PhD, including at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.
A proven track record in delivering impactful optimization and machine learning models is essential.
Candidates should possess strong technical skills in programming (Python, SQL), familiarity with data science techniques, and experience in managing cross-functional stakeholders.
A Bachelor\'s degree in a quantitative field is required, with a Master\'s or PhD preferred.
Relevant certifications in machine learning or data science are a plus.
